- Started in London in 1974 for product naming; bought by Omnicom who added several other U.S. and European design firms

- Probably the biggest; owned by Y&R, so now also a WPP property
Lippincott
(Marsh McLennan)
- Generally considered the CI industry's founding firm, still going strong, but now positioned "brand science."
Siegel & Gale
(Omnicom)
- Alan Siegel's NY firm, sold (to Saatchi), bought itself back in 1998, sold again (to Omnicom) in 2003.
The Brand Union
(WPP)
- Part of Martin Sorrell's WPP agency world, formed in 1990 from Sampson Tyrrell and Anspach Grossman Portugal.  Was named "Enterprise IG" until Nov. 2007

(Omnicom)
- London-flavored. Acquired by Omnicom in 2001.
