TRAVELOCITY: "Guiding Stars" for this site makeover

New: Logo, with 'guiding stars' symbol

Launched: March 25, 2004

Story in brief:
No great shift in strategy, just a design-driven upgrade of the web site and (why not?) of the logo. Travelocity is a subsidiary of Sabre Holdings, one of whose bright young people is Travelocity's new CEO... making her mark, so to speak.

Credits:
CEO - Michelle A. Peluso
Logo design - Desgrippes Gobé

First Impressions:
Bright, fresh and appealing, and certainly an improvement over the old city-mark, overly associated with business travel. But (a quibble) it eats up a lot more vertical space, not an asset for a Web-page header mark; were the scattered flower-stars really necessary?
